Day against women’s violence, 104 victims since the beginning of the year in Italy
Every Nov 25th occurs the International day for the elimination of violence against womenborn at the behest of the United Nations in 1999. In Italy the Senate unanimously approved the establishment of a parliamentary commission of inquiry into feminicide, as well as all forms of gender-based violence. “Tackling the issue united without distinction,” said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. During the press conference to present the demonstrations, it was recalled how after years of pandemics which have literally upset social relations and which have brought a exponential increase in data on domestic violencethe data regarding violence against women in San Marino have not recorded an exponential increase in domestic violence and this, in reality, is a fact that theEqual Opportunities Authority considers it “alarming”. According to the Authority therefore, “il undeclared number of cases of violence against women linked to the difficulty of overcoming the wall of silence that has always characterized this phenomenon, however, he has not managed to keep silent on the direct or witnessed violence suffered by the youngest”.
Throughout the day today Second and Third Towers will be lit in orange in support of the international campaign Orange the world promoted by the UN, UNWomen and the European Soroptimist Federation by Soroptimist Club San Marino and Authority Equal Opportunities. While in the early afternoon, from 2.30 pm, there will be a panel discussion in the Aula Magna “Fausta Morganti” entitled “The body and the hairstyle in contemporary art”, with the interventions of the artist Rita Canarezza – her work “Pace”, which has characterized piazzale Calcigni since 1996 -, of the director of the Department of Human Sciences Luigi Guerra, of Media and Gender Studies teacher Elena D’Amelio and of the Iranian student Masha Salimi, together with the moderator Karen Venturini.
While in the places of greatest affluence the Soroptimist Club San Marino will distribute the postcard “A verse for you” to promote knowledge of the equipped space at the Gendarmerie Corps.
