THE BALL – Vitória and Eustaquio rooting for… Portugal (Canada )
Steven Vitória and Stephen Eustaquio, two players who came to represent Portugal as youngsters and who are now in the World Cup representing Canada, assume that they will also cheer for the Quinas team in this World Cup.
«It is a country that means a lot to me, and to my family too. It’s a home for us. I wish Portugal the best luck in the world. After Canada, I’m rooting for Portugal. I believe that the national team will have a great World Cup, starting with Ghana. It is a flag that will always be close to us», said Steven Vitória, Chaves centre-back, to Sport TV.
The midfielder Eustaquio, from FC Porto, reveals that he will be with his family at the stadium cheering for Portugal against Ghana: «There are no easy games, as we have seen in these first days of the World Cup in which there were big surprises. Portugal has to be alive because it’s difficult, but they have the quality to win. I want to be there supporting and let’s watch the game.”
Steven Vitória, who in Portugal also represented Benfica, Moreirense, Estoril, among others, and Stephen Eustaquio, who, in addition to FC Porto, also wore the jerseys of Chaves, Torreense and Paços de Ferreira, were starters in Canada’s defeat against Belgium, in Group F opening day.
