Oil supplies to the Družba pipeline in Slovakia are interrupted
BRATISLAVA / The supply of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline from Ukraine to Slovakia has been interrupted due to a power outage. She introduced Barbora Putzová from the company Mero, which is the owner and operator of the Czech part of the Družba pipeline. According to her, the Czech Republic is now drawing on operational stocks in Slovakia.
The flow of oil through the Ukrainian part of the Druzhba pipeline stopped on Tuesday, the TASS agency reported, citing the Russian oil pipeline operator Transneft, which subsequently said on the same day that supplies had resumed.
“According to our current information, the supply of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline from Ukraine to Slovakia has been interrupted due to a power outage. It is not possible to interrupt pumping to the Czech Republic due to operational stocks in Slovakia,” said Putzová this afternoon.
According to her, the reason is a power outage on some part of the pipeline route, which is why the pipeline technology is not working. “We are monitoring the situation and are in continuous contact with the operator of the Slovak part of the Družba pipeline, Transpetrol.” added Putzová.
The Druzhba pipeline runs from Russia to Belarus, where it splits into two branches. North leads to Poland and Germany, south through Ukraine to Hungary. Still on Ukrainian territory, however, the southern branch continues to split and the oil flows independently to Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
