EU ministers made decisions

The energy ministers discussed the Council on decision-making on temporary restrictions to contain high energy prices and high security of choice. The document should prevent the emergence of countries in the event of an emergency with gas supplies or a shortage of blue fuel. In addition, resolutions to reduce price volatility.
The Council of the EU has gathered to limit the prices for discussion, which are collected on the TTF within one day. This, as the politicians intended, is likely to prevent excessive expected costs. The device made it clear that this mechanism will operate for all positions that carry energy with them.
In the same meeting, council members struck Russian gas out of joint procurement contracts. This is stated in the statement of the European Commission.
“The new rules create opportunities for EU member states and their energy companies to purchase gas in major markets,” the statement said.
The EU state from 2023 is obliged collectively acquire 15% of the total volume of gas for gas storage facilities, i.e. 13.5 billion cubic meters. At the same time, gas received in Russia will not be included in these transactions.
