Toulouse. ICT wants to take a leap forward
The Toulouse Iron Club returned to the field this Saturday after a long period of truce where a disabled basketball competition initially planned in Qatar was finally canceled. Deprived of an official meeting since October 15, the Toulousains, who could count on the return of several executives from suspension, could not gain the upper hand over Meaux (76-88). Why revise their ambitions downward? Present for twenty years in the elite of the national handicap basketball championship, the Toulouse Iron Club intends to find the top of the table and finally play in the final phases which have eluded them for several seasons.
Find the play-offs
“Last year again, we finished in fifth place, we justified regrets”, specifies Jean-Pierre Louradour, the president of the club. Champion of France in 2006 and 2007, the Toulouse disabled basketball club, created in 1977 and present in the French elite for twenty years, hopes this time to take part in the play-offs of the National Elite championship that he had organized in 2018.
The TIC, which has about fifteen licenses with reduced mobility in the young and female categories, will organize from March 9 to 12, 2023 a preliminary round of the European Cup where five male teams from the Old Continent will compete for the first place synonymous with qualification for the main tour in Badajoz (Spain). “It will be a great basketball festival and above all a great demonstration that sport is for everyone,” explains the president. Toulouse has in particular in its ranks one of the major players of the Bleues, Emilie Menard, dismissed at the club since 2005. Former major supplier of players in the men’s national team, the club of Jean-Pierre Louradour hopes to be able to send several of its elements in selection again. “We are a family club and determined to experience beautiful things together sportingly but above all collectively”, discovered the strong man of ICT who therefore wants to take advantage of the next deadlines to pull his club up.
