Created in 2020 by David Stas, biker and mechanical engineer, the Toulouse start-up Chill Ride invented the first real air conditioning for motorcyclists.
After a crowdfunding campaign
Following a crowdfunding campaign and six months of research and development, a completely new version of the air conditioning is approved since August 2022.
“The air conditioning is reversible and adapts to all seasons, which allows you to cool down in summer to 18°C and to heat up in winter with a temperature of up to 38°C.”
Like underfloor heating
The air conditioning system is made up of three elements: a thermoregulated vest (available from size S to 3XL), a wireless remote control mounted on the handlebar, to adjust the temperature and an air conditioning module connected to the motorcycle battery, which manages the heating and cooling of the liquid before sending it to the vest.
“The vest works on the principle of a heated floor. It is made up of a network of hydraulic tubes in which circulates a liquid at a controlled temperature which will cool or warm the body” indicates the Chill Ride teams.
Comfort, but not at the cost of safety
“The Chill Ride concept was designed with state number 1, security “says the start-up. The vest has been designed to be as thin and light as possible so as not to generalize the movement. It also has the advantage of being compatible with wearing an airbag vest.
During a fall, the vest is designed to separate from the connector linked to the vest and the air conditioning module, so that the rider does not remain attached to the motorcycle.
“This air conditioning system is a great advantage, it is more discreet, but above all easier to adapt to all motorcycle brands”, concluded David Stas, founder of Chill Ride.
