Starlink expands service coverage to include all of Canada, Alaska, Sweden and Norway, now also available in Finland
SpaceX has announced that Starlink is now available across Canada, just weeks after expanding the coverage of their satellite internet service to the far north of the country.
Earlier this month SpaceX has updated its coverage map to include most of the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut, extending as far north as Alert, located at latitude 82°30’05” north, just 817 km (507 miles) from the North Pole.
However, the map showed that Starlink service was still not available across the mid-latitudes of Canada and Alaska, indicating that it would become available early next year.
SpaceX acted quickly and that gap has now been filled and Starlink is available in both Canada and Alaska.
In a tweet announcing the expansion, SpaceX says Starlink is now also available in our neighbors to the east, Alaska, as well as throughout Sweden and Norway.
The company also announced that Starlink is now available to order in Finland for the first time.
A review of the SpaceX order page shows that customers in Finland will have to pay €565 (~$778) for the necessary hardware and €85 (~$117) per month for the service.
The company says customers can expect download speeds of between 50-200 Mbps.
