San Marino. Gas increase, secretaries Gatti and Lonfernini: “Increases below 50% compared to European and Italian ones”
The Secretary of State for Labor and Relations with the AASS were present this morning at the press conference to talk about the delicate issue of energy policies Teodoro Lonfernini and the Secretary of State for Finance Marco Gatti (representing the entire state congress).
The Secretariat of State for Employment wrote it, adding: “Lonfernini and Gatti shed light on the progress of theutility bill increases in the Republic of San Marino, in the light of the resolutions of the Regulatory Authority for Public Services and Energy on tariffs for the consumption of natural gas and electricity, made public last Friday morning.
‘The deliberations leave no room for interpretations and exploitation‘, Lonfernini opened -, ‘the fact that emerges in an incontrovertible and certain way is that Iexpected increase on your gas bill from 1 January 2023 it is 30%, which is added to the two previous ones launched during 2022 (in January and July). If compared to the increases recorded on the tariffs in the bills of the average European and Italian citizens, those in our country are beyond below 50%. It is essential that the exercise of analysis and comparison of data, Lonfernini specified -, ‘be done over the entire year to evaluate the impact of resource demand peaks‘.
‘As for electricity, the choice by the Regulatory Authority for Public Services and Energy was to create a tariff increase with a variable indexed logic‘, continued the Secretary with delegation to the AASS. ‘The State has already intervened in support of citizens and businesses, calming costs, and continues to do so through a sustainable and realistic approach, having the concern of safeguarding, at the same time, our Autonomous State Company for Public Services which is everyone and is a great resource. The circumstances do not fully satisfy us: between the costs generated by the purchase of materials and the revenues for the services provided, we are unable to establish an immediate budget balance to be presented in the budget law, but it is sustainable and from today we can work with certainty and proper planning for at least the next three years. Together with this good work of containment and monitoring, we must complete the analysis for the management of resources in our country in the future‘.
The theme of the future of Energy Policies in the Republic of San Marino will be at the center of the public evening of dialogue and confrontation with citizens that the Secretariat led by Lonfernini organizes Wednesday 23 November at 8.30 pm in the Sala Ex International of Borgo Maggiore.
‘We acknowledge that market conditions, as regards the purchase of gas and electricity, have changed profoundly in the last year, not only in terms of cost but also in terms of contract duration and payment methods‘, Gatti intervened. ‘On the one hand, the government carries out constant action to avoid new increases, on the other, an activity to intensify the study already underway to introduce plants with new eco-sustainable technologies to aim for a energy sovereignty the fuller; this is the only way to manage a tariff policy that is not conditioned by market variations and therefore by what happens outside our borders‘. ‘IThe message of the International Monetary Fund in the closing statement on our country– Gatti concluded, ‘it contains words of great favor towards the policies and instruments adopted with foresight for the extremely complicated management of the energy crisis‘.”
