Five died in a shooting incident at a queer nightclub in Colorado – NRK Urix – Foreign news and documentaries
On social media, it is reported that several people have been shot at the outdoor area in Colorado Springs in the USA. Five are dead and 18 injured.
– The number will probably change as the investigation progresses, said the police’s spokesperson, Lieutenant Pamela Castro, at a press conference.
It will be about Club Q, which is known for being a nightclub for queers. Both the American police and the FBI are on the scene.
– The police entered the building immediately. They found one individual, who we believe is the suspect, in there.
– Several people have been transported in ambulances and police cars to local hospitals.
The person mistaken for being behind is arrested and also in the hospital, receiving medical treatment after being injured during the shooting incident, the police say further.
It is unclear how the suspect was injured.
The communications department of the Colorado police asks people to stay away from the area and states that the road is closed in both directions.
They also ask people who have not been able to contact their loved ones to call the police station for more information.
Write that customers at the outstation stopped the attack
In a post on Facebook, Club Q wrote that they are “completely distraught as a result of the senseless attack”.
They send that they are praying for and thinking of the victims and their families, and thank several of those who were present for their “quick reaction”.
It was people on the outside who overpowered the attacker and stopped the attack, the post says.
According to the police, it is too early to be able to say anything about the motive for the shooting at the club.
They also do not have figures on how many people were present when the attack occurred.
