The states are not pushing Ukraine to negotiate with Russia
The United States in no way pushes Kyiv to negotiate with Moscow and does not conduct separate conversations “about Ukraine without Ukraine.”
This was announced by John Kirby, the coordinator of strategic communications of the White House National Security Council, during a telephone briefing, Ukrinform’s own correspondent reports.
“No one in the United States is pushing, inducing, or pushing him (Zelensky – ed.) to negotiate,” Kirby said.
He emphasized: the USA remains in the position that Ukraine will determine when it will be ready for diplomatic negotiations and what this process will look like. The representative of the White House also confirmed that the American side continues to be guided by the principle of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.”
Kirby knows that contacts between the United States and developing at the level of heads of departments. which, the head CIA met with the head of foreign intelligence of the Russian Federation, there were telephone conversations between the ministers of defense and the commanders in chief of the armed forces. However, the representative of the administration stressed, during these contacts, the American side does not conduct negotiations on how to regulate the term related to the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
As reported by Ukrinform, last week the head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, expressed the position that Ukraine could start peace talks with the Russian Federation right now – against the background of the recognition of Russian forces on the battlefield.
However he later reportedthat the Ukrainian side itself should determine when and under what conditions it will be ready to enter into such negotiations.
