magistrates on strike to “demand a rescue plan for justice”
The magistrates will be on strike in Toulouse this Tuesday, November 22. They demand in particular “a rescue plan for Justice”.
They intend to be heard. The magistrates’ unions have filed a strike notice for this Tuesday, November 22. They call on lawyers and all justice professionals to join this day of action. Locally, it will be held at the headquarters of the Court of Appeal of Toulouse.
“The action will be declined by the cessation of all judicial activities in all jurisdictions within the jurisdiction of the court, including hearings, between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. “, indicates theTrade union of the judiciary. Justice professionals will then gather at 1 p.m. on the steps of the Palais de Justice “to protest against the Ministry’s measures and demand a rescue plan for Justice”.
A strike to mark one year of the Tribune des “3000”
The date of November 22 was not chosen at random. It marks the anniversary of the publication of the Grandstand of the “3000” in the newspaper Le Monde. In the latter, a collective, made up of 3,000 judges and substitutes and a hundred court clerks, denounced the “managerial” approach to justice.
Since then, the magistrates’ unions have not noticed any real changes. “Many announcements have been made by the Ministry, but in the courts, professionals do not see any concrete improvement in the situation to date. A few gaping flaws have been plugged, but the response is not proportionate to the difficulties,” said the Union Syndicale de la magistrature.
What do the magistrates’ unions denounce?
For the magistrates’ unions, “the work of justice personnel who work for social peace is not sufficiently recognized”. They also judge that “the objective of the work of Justice in dignity and quality is very far away” and “the loss of meaning of work is more present than ever”.
The unions detail: “From numerous situations of serious or even fatal occupational accidentsand suffering at work are reported in the courts, but the Ministry refuses to work structurally on the issue of the prevention of psychosocial risks since it has twice rejected the request for a national inquiry into psychosocial risks in the Justice system” .
