Specials threatened with cancellation? -Monaco Pages
Cold spell on the 91st edition of the Rallye Monte Carlo 2023 because we learned this morning that the stages of Malijai/Puimichel, Saint-Geniez/Thoard and Ubraye/Entrevaux are threatened with cancellation. In fact it would be the passage of the test in the Alpes de Haute Provence which is threatened for security reasons term rather nebulous to say that the politicians do not want Monte Carlo in fact!
According to elected officials, it would seem that several places on the Col de Fontbelle are defective.
“There are places where there are no more security barriers. The road is sunken. Security is simply not guaranteed. If I allow cars to pass and there is an accident, it will be my personal responsibility. »
And it is BFM.TV that tells us the tourist news, Bernard Teyssier, deputy vice-president for attractiveness at Provence Alpes Agglomeration explains this Wednesday evening to BFM DICI: “The rally safety manager called me. It was catastrophic. He received a letter from the department stating that he did not have authorization to do the planned special between Saint-Geniez and Thoard via the Fontbelle pass”.
If this were the case, it would be two specials on Friday and the five specials on Saturday that would be affected!
For its part, the organization of the 91 st edition of the Monte Carlo is more optimistic and seems to say that the Saturday section will do well, so what about the Briançonnet special.
A solution also seems to be under study if a cancellation should be confirmed for the Col de Fontbelle between Authon and Thoard will have fallen, the organization of the rally will work on a “plan B” on the Bayons side but the geographical location is not optimal and too far from the planned route…
