Royalty’s new go-to dress revealed! The £420 dress is loved by Kate Middleton and Princess Beatrice
As members of the Royal Family, the Princess of Wales and Princess Beatrice have access to some of the most exclusive designers in the world.
But that doesn’t mean they feel the need to splurge on every single item in their closet.
As eagle-eyed fashion fans have recently noticed, there is one (somewhat) affordable high street brand that the two royals have worn repeatedly since last year.
The Princess of Wales, 40, wore Self-Portrait’s £420 black blazer dress for the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday night.
Complete with a black silk lapel and an elegant narrow belt, the dress is designed to look like two separates – with a smart tailored blazer sewn over a pleated midi skirt with a lace trim.

Princess Beatrice wore the same dress to hold a vigil next to her grandmother’s coffin at Westminster Hall on September 17, 2022

For the somber occasion, the mother-of-three teamed the oversized dress with a pair of sheer tights, black heels and a matching clutch bag.
However, the dress has also been worn by Princess Beatrice, when she held a vigil with Zara Tindall, Princess Eugenie and Lady Louise Windsor for her late grandmother in September.
Standing next to Her Majesty’s coffin at Westminster Hall, Beatrice, 34, paired the Self Portrait dress with a black suede headband topped with a bow and patent heels.
That said, both women — who also own the dress in cream — have worn the versatile dress in happier times, too.
The then Duchess of Cambridge wore the dress again for the party at the Palace TV Platinum Jubilee event on June 4, 2022

In September 2021, Kate wore the cream dress in public for the first time when she hosted a reception for those who helped organize her Hold Still photography initiative at Buckingham Palace.
For the occasion, the mother-of-three styled her brown hair in a high ponytail and was happily photographed chatting to guests in her lace gown.
And for the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations in June, the then-Duchess of Cambridge chose the cream dress for the Party at the Palace televised event in front of Buckingham Palace.
Keeping her accessories minimal, Kate instead opted for her signature bouncy blow-dry and wore a pair of silver circular earrings as she took her seat in the front row next to Princess Charlotte.

Shortly before the Queen’s passing in September, Princess Beatrice was seen wearing the cream version of the dress while giving a speech at the 2022 Annual Summit Dinner at Mansion House – sending royal fans into a frenzy.

The £420 dress is available in black and white. The black version has a silk layer while the cream has a boucle jacket
Self-portrait founder Han Chong said earlier Vogue: ‘It is positive that women now have more choices than just high street or designer.
“It’s a good message for young girls that princesses wear £300 dresses to big events. It makes me proud.’
Amanda hinted at why the dress has become such a hit with the royals, saying: “The dress itself is a fun mix of elegance, sophistication, business casual on top and then fun on the bottom with this little lace detail.”
And it’s not the first time that the Princess of Wales and Beatrice have been friends with their outfits.
And it’s not the first time Kate and Beatrice have entwined in an outfit! Both have worn a version of The Vampire’s Wife The Venation dress (pictured left, Kate Middleton in the dress and right Princess Beatrice at Ellie Goulding’s wedding)
Princess Beatrice wore a £1,695 £1,695 silk-blend lamé dress by The Vampire’s Wife to Ellie Goulding’s wedding at York Minster Cathedral in 2019.
Beatrice paired her dress with a black Justine Bradley-Hill ‘Athena’ headband, a green Sienna Jones bag, a Cartier ‘Juste un Clou’ bracelet, a Stella & Dot Chantilly lace cuff and black Reiss shoes.
Kate wore a very similar version of the emerald dress when she stepped out as she joined Prince William for an evening reception at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin in early 2020.
