An afternoon dedicated to Giuseppe Toniolo and Pisa on November 18, 2022 Events in Pisa
There Giuseppe Toniolo Opera Foundation devote an afternoon of reflection to the book of Alberto Guasco, ‘Giuseppe Toniolo and Pisa (1879 -1918). Reading path‘, Pacini Editore 2022, which reconstructs the relationship of the illustrious economist and sociologist with the city. The appointment is for Friday 18 November at the Auditorium of the Opera della Primaziale G. Toniolo in Piazza Arcivescovado. There is a square in the city that is dedicated to him, a comprehensive institute and a middle school, a university boarding house and an auditorium and also two Foundations: we are talking about Giuseppe Toniolo (1845-1918) born in Treviso, but who arrived in Pisa little more than thirty years old as a university professor and who remained here until the end of his days. He is considered the father of the Catholic movement and a few months ago a book (Alberto Guasco, Giuseppe Toniolo and Pisa (1879 -1918). Reading Path, Pacini Editore 2022) has finally investigated the relationship between the illustrious economist and sociologist and our city, where he lived and marked for more than half of his life. The volume has recently received the Giuseppe Toniolo 2022 Award for the “Thought” section in Pieve di Soligo (TV). In addition to the President of the Opera Foundation G. Toniolo Andrea Maestrellithey will also intervene Martina Pignatti, program director of “Un ponte per”, with an intervention on Rereading Toniolo, from the eve of the First World War to the signs of the third; Michele Zanzucchi, journalist and writer, professor at the Sophia University Institute, ‘What would Toniolo say about subsidiarity and social justice in the era of the digital revolution?’ Ernesto Preziosi, Istituto Toniolo Milano who will talk about Giuseppe Toniolo’s lay experience. Finally they will conclude the author of the award-winning volume on Toniolo, Alberto Guasco, CNR-Isem researcher of Milan and theArchbishop of Pisa Giovanni Paolo Benotto. The meeting will be conducted and moderated by the journalist and historian Cristina Sagliocco and broadcast live on the frequencies of Radio Incontro Pisa.
