Cab Driver Tailgates Ambulance In Msida
A cab driver was pulled over tailgating an ambulance that was responding to an emergency while he was weaving through traffic in Msida.
Dashcam footage sent to Lovin Malta shows the driver following the ambulance in busy afternoon traffic.
“I almost ended up crashing into him, narrowly avoiding an accident just because he wanted to jump a few cars,” said the person who sent the video.
The accident happened yesterday, shortly before 5pm on the southbound lane of the road that exits the Msida Skatepark tunnel to the Birkirkara flyovers.
Lovin Malta passed the videos to the Maltese police.
The issue of tailgating private vehicles that exceed the speed of emergency response is a serious issue that authorities have become more concerned about in recent years.
In an upcoming Lovin Malta mini-documentary, the Mater Dei ambulance staff opened up about the serious issue of other drivers during an emergency, saying that they have experienced precarious moments with other drivers before and in fact they rank it as one of the biggest problems they face. .
Malta’s roads can be dangerous as they are – but emergency vehicles having to deal with the added pressure of another vehicle just inches away from them causes unnecessary stress and fear for emergency workers trying to they save lives.
