Büchel is in the semifinals and Pircher is fifth – Liechtenstein
ANTALYA – On the second day of the European Championships in Antalya, both Milena Büchel and Patrick Pircher were in action. This was Büchel’s first appearance on the big stage at the European Championships or World Cup and she fought her way sensationally to the semi-finals. Pircher, on the other hand, was eliminated but came in strong fifth.
After the official opening ceremony on Sunday evening, Patrick Pircher gives his notice. The FL kickboxer defeated the Austrian Gernot Maier in the Light Contact -74 kg category and then the Italian Federico Fornaro in the Light Contact -74 kg category.
On day two, the Schaaner continues in the round of 16 in light contact – 74 kg. There he met the seeded Adrian Durma from Poland. In the first round, Pircher and Durma mostly taste it and score isolated goals. The Pole primarily hit Pircher’s body with his strong front leg, who responded with clean fists in the face.
In the second lap, Pircher made two distances and suffered a kick to the head each time. Durma extended the lead and the Liechtensteiner now had to take more tactical risks. In the third lap, the Pole fought cleverly and mercilessly countered the attacking Pircher. He couldn’t turn the fight around and lost 0:3 despite a very good performance.
Defeat also in Kick Light
In the last fight of the day he faced the Slovenian Mark Antonij Perkovic in the men’s kick light -74 kg. The Slovenian is the reigning vice world champion in this category and started the fight with a lot of confidence.
The Slovenian used his physique well from the start and dominated the Schaaner. Pircher was behind early and had to take more risks to close the points gap. Unfortunately, he was unable to turn the tide and ended up losing 0:3. Patrick Pircher was eliminated from the tournament in Antalya and took a great 5th place.
Milena Büchel is in the semifinals
Büchel started first in the women’s -65 kg kick light and fought Tihana Jagodic from Croatia in the quarterfinals. The Croatian started the first round furiously and put on a lot of pressure, which the Liechtensteiner was able to withstand well. They implemented the instructions perfectly, marched forward and brought the long straights into the Croatian’s face. In the second round the picture was the same and the Croatian started strong again, but then lost again due to Büchel’s good hits.
In the decisive third round, Büchel remained true to his tactics and continued to hit the opponent’s face cleanly with his straights. She persevered until the end of the fight and won 3:0 in the end. Now she is in the semi-finals of the European Championships, where she will face Great Britain’s Nesta Baxter.
Defeat upon light contact
In the second discipline, Light Contact, she had to admit defeat to a Turkish woman and, despite another courageous fight, was eliminated until the end.
