Toulouse. “I want to go as far as possible in the tournament” declared Marlène Soulaille after her qualification for the final of the Winamax Poker Tour
Marlène Soulaille, alias Cops2solo, amateur player from Toulouse, qualified this weekend for the final of the Winamax Poker Tour.
What made you want to play poker?
The fact that I understand that this game could be strategic, technical and that it was not only due to luck even if it is part of the game. For the adrenaline it provides. I like strategy games in general.
What place does it take in your life?
I play on Wimanax, or in a club, it takes me about 10 hours a week. In addition to that, I am the treasurer of the TAIP association (Toulouse All-In Poker), which I first joined as a player.
How would you define your playing style?
I still play a little tight, that is to say still a little shy and reserved on the game, still a little cautious. I improved, by reading books, by videos, by exchanging with good players and an important practice.
In what state of mind did you delete this tournament?
Very serene, very happy to find a Winamax event in Toulouse. I didn’t want to project myself and live in the present moment. I didn’t see the day pass, I still wanted to play after 9 hours of play. I had a lot of fun.
What will be your objective during the final in Paris?
I already qualified in 2017. In Paris, I was not far from paying places. I want to do better than last time. I go there with a different mindset. I want to go as far as possible. I’m not afraid to come out first hand.
Is the poker world too masculine for you?
Yes of course, there are very few women but it is improving. Poker is a game of ego, there’s a very masculine side to it. Poker is violent, you can lose by getting dirty, lose by playing well. Our association is managed by women, 10 to 15% of our members are women. I encourage women to come and try in an association, to discover the game itself. In a club, there is a very friendly side.
Do you want to turn pro?
No, it requires too much work and investment. But with regularity, you can win tickets, have great tournaments and have fun. I want to call the event organizers, because even if we are amateurs, they allow us to play at a much more interesting level and sometimes even against pros
What do you bring poker into everyday life?
Poker allows you to work on yourself, to accept that the result is not the one proposed. It helps me to take a step back, even on my choices in life.
