Salzburg: In Wolfsberg “join all our strengths again”
After the lesson in Milan, Austria’s series champions Red Bull Salzburg will be visiting Wolfsberger AC in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Salzburg coach Matthias Jaissle wants to “achieve the maximum by the winter break”.

For series champions Red Bull Salzburg there is a mandatory win in the Bundesliga on Saturday (5 p.m.). The guest appearance at the recently weak Wolfsberger AC is also the opportunity for the “Bulls” to get the Champions League out of their heads. It is questionable, however, with which staff coach Matthias Jaissle’s team will show up in Lavanttal, especially since there have been a few failures and battered players to complain about.
Bundesliga – 15th matchday
Nicolás Capaldo (knee), Fernando (thigh) and Samson Tijani (tibia and fibula) are missing for Jaissle, several others have to worry at least. Central defender Oumar Solet, who was blessed in the thigh, had to be replaced at half-time in the 4-0 loss at AC Milan on Wednesday, and his defensive colleague Maximilian Wöber was later affected. And his replacement Andreas Ulmer and midfield player Lucas Gourna-Douath were also questioned by the Salzburgers.
“Of course, the game on Wednesday took a lot of strength again. Physically, but also mentally,” admitted Jaissle, whose team found out about their opponents in the second round of the Europa League on Monday (1 p.m.). “Even if I wanted to say something about the line-up beforehand: It’s impossible. We have to temporarily decide who will bring the necessary freshness. We’ll now pool all our strengths again and throw everything out. Our goal is to be in the games by the winter break to reach the maximum.”
WAC President Riegler demands more strictness from coach Dutt
“For us it will be important that we get the strain from the Milan game out and get our style of play back on the pitch,” emphasized full-back Amar Dedic, who was on loan at WAC last season. He didn’t want to be deceived by the Carinthians’ most recent series, losing the last four games in a row: “WAC is currently in a rather difficult phase, things aren’t really going well. But I still know a lot of the players from last season and I know they can do it.”
WAC coach Robin Dutt is also convinced of this. “Basically, my team is currently able to deliver everything in both directions, also in a positive way,” said the German, whose team lost 2-3 to Altach – probably good chances unnecessarily. A partial success against Salzburg would now be urgently needed. “But you have to overperform,” admitted Dutt.
Dutt is not currently in question, as Dietmar Riegler confirmed to the “Krone” on Tuesday. “There’s nothing there,” emphasized the club boss, but apparently wanted the German to be more strict. “He’s way too good to the players. (…) They need gas, he has to kick their ass,” Riegler was quoted as saying. “Basically, I’ve always tried to find a constructive approach,” said Dutt. “Sometimes it has to be loud, but I don’t wear that in public.”
