Guided tour of the exhibition Toulouse-sur-Garonne with the architect Jacques Munvez
The nerve center of social practices, the banks of the Garonne are lined with remarkable buildings awaiting requalification. Gradually, these places are transformed, revealing the cultural potential of the banks of the river. In 2000, the opening to the public of the Musée des Abattoirs completed this complex linked by a new network of public spaces, belvederes and footbridges which punctuate the promenade. The two banks of the Garonne are no longer far apart. Culture participates in the animation of the banks and the districts.
Jacques Munvez began working as an architect in the early 1970s. On several occasions, architects proposed open-air theaters and public agoras in the parks and places around the Garonne. These pioneering projects are echoed in 2018 with the large stepping stone located at the foot of the Saint-Pierre bridge and the open-air theater on the island of Ramier.
