Woman sprays fake blood on Toulouse-Lautrec painting in Berlin museum
A painting by Toulouse-Lautrec on display in a museum in Berlin, Germany, was sprayed with fake blood on Sunday, October 30. The main suspect was taken into custody. It would not be a climate activist.
A painting by famous artist Toulouse-Lautrec was sprayed with fake blood on Sunday (October 30) at a museum in Berlin, Germany. The work, fortunately, was not too damaged by the incident.
It was a woman who sprayed Toulouse-Lautrec’s painting entitled “The Clown” with fake blood before sticking her hand to the wall next to the work. This act is reminiscent of recent actions adapted by climate activists in various museums around the world. However, according to German law enforcement, this was not the motive for the attack. President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation Hermann Parzinger said he was saddened by the news.

“I am shocked by this new senseless attack on the art, which this time does not appear to belong to any climate-active group. The artwork is probably not badly damaged, but paint and glue damage in the lobby exposure,” he wrote on Twitter. The suspect, who was distributing leaflets before her act, was arrested and placed in police custody.
