This is how our rating of the FC players turns out
Cologne Despite worse conditions, 1. FC Köln ended their negative trend against Hoffenheim and after eight defeats in a row they scored again. So we rate the players.
Linton Maina was exhausted when he was substituted in the game against TSG Hoffenheim. “Towards the end I was very flat, my legs didn’t want to be that much anymore,” said the 1. FC Köln player. Maina was one of the billy goats’ best players in the duel against TSG Hoffenheim on Sunday evening. The outside player repeatedly presented the Hoffenheim defense with major problems with his speed runs. But Maina wasn’t the only player who impressed. “The boys get a lot of compliments from me, and they deserve it. They leave their hearts on the pitch and that’s what we want to see. We make mistakes and that’s part of the game, but when I see how the team is developing, I’m happy with everyone,” said FC coach Steffen Baumgart.
But things didn’t go well for the people of Cologne either. A slight mistake by Denis Huseinbasic in midfield followed to concede. Also because Nikola Soldo allowed himself to be overrun. The defense was not always very safe, the offensive missed too many chances. “The guys absorb everything and if they continue to work like this, then it’s just fun,” Baumgart continues. “I am very satisfied with the result. Today we got everything out that was still possible. It was a very intense week and from the end you could tell that we lacked the strength, but we gave it our all and can be very satisfied,” said the strong Florian Kainz.
