After the visit to San Marino, the speakers of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) welcomed the recent reforms aimed at strengthening the independence of the judiciary and the strengthening of checks and balances in the country. (…)
“San Marino has a unique and well-developed system of democratic institutions and the rule of law”, it is written in the report delivered to the PACE by the two politicians Viorel Riceard Badea (Romania) and Andrej Hunko (Germany). “Recent reforms should ensure that the functioning of these institutions is well adapted to the challenges facing a micro state in our current interconnected society. In this context, it is important to underline that reforms are not the end of the road but a starting point. Their implementation and their impact must be constantly monitored by all interested parties, in particular by the Great and General Council, and adapted where necessary to ensure that the San Marino people continue to the high level of democracy and protection of human rights referred to. they could have so far ”, the speakers said.
