Ice hockey: The “eagles” will be guests at the champions in Salzburg tomorrow
Even on All Saints’ Day there is no time for Derek Joslin and Co. to take a breather. Tomorrow, Tuesday, the “Adler” will be guests at the champions in Salzburg.
VILLACH/SALZBURG. The Blue and Whites lost their first meeting of the season in Villach against Salzburg by a narrow margin of 1:3 and are eager for revenge. The Blue and Whites celebrated their last win in Salzburg at the end of February with a 2:3 goal – back then they quickly qualified for the European Champions Hockey League. Now the “Adler” will meet the champions again tomorrow, Tuesday. However, Villach’s head coach, Rob Daum, will still have to do without Maximilian Rebernig (upper body injury) against Red Bull Salzburg in addition to the two long-term injured players, Julian Payr and Elias Wallenta.
As a unit anything is possible
In the past training sessions, the “Adler” have also focused on the special teams. With success: Because against the Vienna Capitals, a strong majority game with two goals scored and compact and aggressive defensive behavior in numerical inferiority makes the difference. That was also what VSV captain Derek Joslin said: “It’s like this, the special teams win the tight, tight games. We’ve struggled a little over the past few weeks. However, things are getting better and better now, and they have recently shown a clear improvement in form both in the power play and in penalty killing. According to Joslin, we have to implement our system even more consistently against the Red Bulls. It will be important that we act together as a unit, then anything is possible.”
