Serie A: Lazio is surprised by Salernitana, AC Milan and its Devils trapped in Torino
The 12th day of Serie A continued on Sunday with several meetings on the program.
Torino-AC Milan 2-1
Origi started the game in the Milan eleven while De Ketelaere started on the bench. Saelemakers was absent (injured). AC Milan were aiming for further success to put pressure on Napoli, the sole leaders at the top of the table. But not everything went as planned for the Milanese who fell in Turin against the very fine team of Ivan Juric.
However, the Rossoneri had started the meeting well, like these missed opportunities for Rafael Leão in front of the Serbian goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic (3rd and 6th). Torino opened the scoring with a header from Koffi Djidji on a free kick from Valentino Lazaro (35th), 1-0. A few moments later, Aleksei Miranchuk took over the service of Nikola Vlašić to double the lead (37th), 2-0.
At the break, Stefano Pioli decided to make three changes with the entries of Charles De Ketelaere, Ante Rebic and Sergino Dest. The Milanese got a big chance via Divock Origi, but the Belgian was a bit too short to volley Rebic’s cross past Milinkovic-Savic (50′). AC Milan then took advantage of a goalkeeper error and reduced the score via Junior Messias (68th), 2-1. However, the Lombard club failed to overthrow the Torino and lost. In the standings, the Granata consolidate their 9th place. The Rossoneri are in 3rd place.
Lazio-Salernitana 1-3
Lazio (4th) notably received Salernitana (11th) with the hope of climbing to the third step of the podium in the event of a victory. And if everything started for the best for Maurizio Sarri’s players, thanks to Mattia Zaccagni’s opener on a Decision Maker pass from Luis Alberto Romero Alconchel just before the break (41st), the Romans ended up sinking after the break.
In the second period, the visitors turned things around in less than 30 minutes. At first, Antonio Candreva equalized on an offering from Pasquale Mazzocchi (51st) then Federico Fazio gave the advantage to his team (68th). Boulaye Dia drove the point home (76th). The score did not move, Lazio therefore remains at the foot of the podium while Salernitana goes back to the first part of the table, to 9th place.
