Goalless Sunday afternoon in Grödig
“A solid performance from us,” SVG supervisor Thomas Schnöll was satisfied with the performance of his protégés against the city dwellers. While Grödig’s finders, Popovic, Schober and Schorb sniffed in vain for the opening goal with a double chance, the SAKlers Griessner and Vidovic found their masters in home “Handsch” Colic. After referee Ustaoglu overlooked a crystal-clear Reischl handball and the hosts felt cheated of a penalty, Wienerroither awarded the lucky punch, in which he shot a Stanglpass from close range not into but over the hut. “It’s a shame that we couldn’t reward ourselves for a committed performance. Of course there’s still room for improvement, but we worked hard to earn a point today,” said Schnöll. Meanwhile, for SAK coach Roman Wallner, sharing the points was okay: “Both teams created a few chances. I think it was a fair draw.”
