5G in Portugal is… Bad? Do you feel it? Prefer 4G? Leak out
Have you ever found yourself with access to 5G networks, on your smartphone, but without access to the Internet, or with a speed worthy of the times of Clix or Sapo? Well, opinion is not alone in this boat, because the generalization of consumers, regarding 5G, is really quite weak.
Networks: 5G in Portugal is… Bad? Do you feel it? Don’t prefer 4G?
So, do you still remember all that was here about next-generation 5G networks? That would revolutionize the world of communications, not so much by the increase in (which exists), but by the low latency in Internet access and additional services? Well, the general opinion is that 5G connectivity is failing, sorely, in its promises.
As 5G networks are failing to increase speed, ease of access to the network, and in fact, in a few, they offer a service below what we had not experienced. What coverage it is is largely due to gaps in its reach, particularly in less populated areas, where as mobile network providers they don’t invest so much in the area.
That is, if you are in the center of Lisbon, it is very likely that you have an access speed to the 5G network that is simply incredible. In the middle of Salvaterra de Magos, where incredibly 5G already exists, the experience will not be quite the same.
In fact, many times, you will want to access the simplest of applications, and you will find an error message, because… Of course… Internet access is failing. Interestingly, it is important to happen in areas theoretically for mobile network providers, such as Greater Lisbon.
Obviously it’s still in a transition phase, and it’s still in a transition phase, 5G will really present its claws, by offering a superior user experience than it was designed for. But now? I would really rather have access to good old 4G, rather than having 5G, which in fact, you can’t even pay the car’s parking meter.
