Toulouse. Art in the Saint-Agne metro station
The Saint-Agne SNCF station is the 15th station on line B of the Toulouse metro. It is located near Toulouse Saint-Agne station, along Avenue de l’URSS.
A work of art created by the sculptor Nicolas Hérubel can be found in the station, installed at the back of the ticket hall opposite the entrance. It is composed of four scenes of daily life. The first painting is formed by a frosted glass screen framed in a mirror. A ladder and a tricycle appear superimposed. Right next to it is the second painting which shows the map of the neighborhood on the back of a frosted glass. Then comes a concave, distorting mirror, on which appears a thermoformed glass kite.
The fourth scene uses the principle of the screen, this time of panoramic size, with the image of a bicycle inlay. “These four paintings can also be seen as four instants of the same scene, depending on the mood and the context in which the viewer is immersed,” murmurs Damien, 20, dubiously looking at the four scenes. The strangeness of these scenes, their discrepancy with the daily life of this ticket hall makes them a poetic showcase in the station.
