LGBT ideology in Slovakia is brought by progressives and the president. How to react?
Much has already been written about the cold-blooded murder of two young people on Zámocká street in Bratislava, and much more will be written. Although I like to comment on social issues, out of respect for the victims, I decided to write, but answer for a while even more than I usually think, you will understand, and only later write your thoughts. Of course, the news of this event affected me and I absolutely condemn the act of the murderer. Just as I condemn the overt form of hatred against any person or group of people, of course also that which is supported hatred against specific racial, ethnic, sexual, religious or ideological minorities. I pray for the specific victims and their families, as well as for the launch of a person who, because of this and similar acts, I rightly feel threatened. The Bishops’ Conference of Slovakia also called for prayers and complete denial of hatred. I think that the act of the murderer could easily be classified as an act of terrorism, especially if we consider that the terrorists were inspired by foreign and mass shooters and that his motives were really intolerance towards selected minorities, instilling fear and changing social conditions. Intolerance not only towards homosexuals, but also towards Jews. However, many media and politicians criticized the religious Prime Minister Heger for the words he used, despite the fact that they were completely legitimate. They began to criticize and attack more conservative politicians and the church. Despite the fact that Prime Minister Heger himself was also a previous possible target of an attack by the same killer. In this environment of social and political situations, these manifestations of the cultural war waged for decades and arising from it and in the West (especially in the USA and the EU) an increasingly dominant LGBT ideology occur.
Attention, there is a big difference between criticizing an ideology and denying the dignity of a person, which is so often neglected by many of today’s mainstream media, leftist and progressive society and politicians. I basically have the same attitude as expressed in the catechism of the Catholic Church. God, who is love and the prototype of community, created man as man and woman so that together they would be a faithful image of the Church’s essence (for further addition to the articles of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) 369-373, 383). The Church believes that in the order of creation is embedded the need for complementation and the mutual attraction of man and woman so that life can be passed on to children. Therefore, the Church cannot approve homosexual practices. However, Christians show respect and love to every person, regardless of their sexual orientation, because God respects and loves all people. (YOUCAT Catechism of the Catholic Church for young people) I think that even though we are equal in human dignity, we are not the same as people and God looks at each of us individually. Above all, in my opinion, it looks at whether and to what extent I believe and live whole and indivisible His Word of God, in other words, the Holy Scriptures, the Bible and the provisions derived from it. And he also searches the heart, thoughts and inside of every person.
The LGBT ideology promoted by the American and European left and progressives is real, just like e.g. scientific theories regarding global warming. Once during a sermon, I was interested in the statement of a priest who said that nowadays we have global warming in the world, but also interpersonal cooling. The latter is enforced e.g. also the culture war, which I outlined earlier in the text. However, LGBT ideology is real and its manifestation is e.g. an attack on the institution of marriage as the union of a man and a woman. Benjamin Aaron Shapiro, a well-known American conservative commentator and author, aptly named it when he opposed the US Supreme Court’s Obergefell v. Hodges, which found same-sex marriage bans unconstitutional.[1] However, Shapiro expressed concern that because of the ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, the government may at some point try to force religious institutions to perform same-sex weddings against their will.[2] [3] Just on a side note, Shapiro himself is a Jew, that is, a member of another group of people, which he did not find and which was attacked by the mentioned killer from Zámocká. Shapiro also stated that he opposes government interference in the institution of marriage and also that he does not believe that same-sex marriage should be taught to students in schools. He thus opposed some Californian politicians and enforced their law. In 2019, in response to Democratic presidential candidate Beth O’Rourke calling for the elimination of tax-exempt status for religious institutions that oppose same-sex marriage, Shapiro said that if O’Rourke tried to “indoctrinate” his children in religious schools, Shapiro would be forced to, to paraphrase his words, “leave the country.”[4] In Europe, we have also reached the point where people are prosecuted just for publishing passages from the Holy Scriptures and are falsely accused of inciting hatred against homosexuals. Even in Slovakia, believers, priests and even bishops are ridiculed and slandered for their legitimate opinions and expressions of their faith. President Zuzana Čaputová has already received criticism in this regard. At the same time, freedom of religion should be guaranteed in our country.
I mentioned President Čaputová here also because she herself, as a presidential candidate, shared my text, which helped her in the presidential campaign. It was written that it is assumed that the head of state, if she is Zuzana Čaputová, will be conciliatory on cultural issues and that she will welcome a new and deep discussion. That, in my opinion, has not come to fruition and it is disappointing. Mrs. President goes to the hands of progressive politics (after all, she entered politics herself on the progressive side) and progressive ideology, she does not appeal to a public professional and in-depth discussion on these matters, e.g. also with representatives of churches or experts in theology or independent experts in sociology or psychology. The Slovak mainstream media belonging to the sphere of ownership and influence of powerful corporations and investment funds as well as the progressive left, which adore the style of politics of the President and her person, are mostly biased in these matters and mainly shallow, not consistent and deep.
The problems of homosexuals as a part of society are real and it is right to solve them, to help both theoretically and practically. But the promotion of LGBT ideology by certain politicians, powerful, groups and media is also real. As for some of her manifestations, I have described in important political and social steps and I consider it the previous paragraph. It is only a very brief calculation, but it will increase dramatically every year. And if the president of the Slovak Republic and others want to criticize bishops, they should first of all try to educate Christians in understanding the fundamental and Jewish faith and study and research the Holy Scriptures and the Word of God more. I warmly invite them to do so. Because, even if many people will not see it that way, it is His Word and its correct interpretation that leads us to true love.
