This is one of the big hits on the transfer market, for next season. The international number 8 Selevasio Tolofua (25 years old; 2 selections) decided to leave his training club of Toulousewhere he was coming to the end of his contract in the summer of 2023, to commit until 2026 with Toulon. Information made official by the RCT on October 7 and to which the person concerned returned on the eve of the Stadistes’ trip to Bayonne, this Saturday (9:05 p.m.) on behalf of the 9e Top 14 day.
“Not everyone has the opportunity to play with their brother at a high level…”
When discussing his last season in Toulouse and discussing his departure for Toulon, Selevasio Tolofua made a point of specifying from the outset that “for the moment, he was focused on Stade Toulousain and that he still had a lot of months to do with Toulouse”, before the native of Lille, trained in Marcq-en-Barœul (North), explains his decision:
If you want the reasons (for my departure), I don’t think we all have the opportunity to play with our brother in a high-level career. I had this opportunity so I made this choice. But for the moment, my head, my body and everything else are fine in Toulouse. I want to go as far as possible with Stade Toulousain and Toulon, it will be next year.
“I talked a lot with Christopher”
Originally from Wallis-and-Futuna, Selevasio Tolofua admits that the presence of his younger brother Christophe Tolofua (28 years old; 7 caps), who has been playing at the RCT since 2019 but with whom he has never played professionally, weighed a lot in his choice to join the Rade club: “We are very close with my brother . On a one very large siblings and I’m close to all my brothers. Necessarily, I talked a lot with Christopher. There are also my nephews and my daughter who live in Toulon, so there are plenty of things that made me make this decision”.
Remember that Selevasio and Christophe, nephews ofAbraham Tolofuaformer pro pillar passed by Nice, Grenoble, Clermont and Béziers, presents an older brother Nekelo Tolofua (30 years old), who evolves in Blagnac (National) as a three-quarter center. The Tolofua are a real family of champions, beyond rugby, since the judoka Julia Tolofua (25), cousin of Selevasio and Christopher, recently won the bronze medal over 78 kg at the world championships. Holy family!
