Slovakia supplied Ukraine with electricity
The state-owned Ukrainian company “Energetická spoločnost Ukraina” yesterday carried out a trial import of electricity to their territory from Slovakia, reports the Ukrainian portal RBCwhich refers to the energy company Ukrenergo.
As the portal reports, the test delivery was carried out with the aim of the energy system in Ukraine and thus develop a possible formula for how to cover a possible electricity deficit that could occur in the event of missile attacks and damage to the energy infrastructure. The first trial supply of electricity was 1 MW.
On October 10, Russia began massive shelling Ukrainian infrastructure, for which Ukraine was forced to transport electricity to Europe on October 11.
“Today’s missile attacks, which hit thermal power plants and power lines, forced Ukraine to suspend electricity exports from October 11, 2022 to stabilize its own energy system,” reports the portal RBC.
The portal further reports that the Ukrainian Energy Company won the right to import electricity from Europe as a result of an open auction for access to international energy networks.
“As a business, we look for options and tools that enable us to take those risks. Realization of trial deliveries is part of the job. The technical possibility of importing electricity from Europe to Ukraine is another tool for stabilizing the operation of our energy system. We must be ready for its implementation,” said for RBC General Director of the Energy Company of Ukraine Vitaly Butenko.
Iuliia Mendel, journalist and former press secretary of President Zelensky, reported on this delivery on her Twitters.
The main department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kyiv region reported on its Facebook last night that “Shakhed” drones again attacked infrastructure objects in the Kyiv region.
