“Monte-Carlo Riviera TV is an adventure I couldn’t refuse”: the secrets of presenter Jacques Legros, guest of the Monaco Press Club
Joker by Jean-Pierre Pernaut for 24 years then by Marie-Sophie Lacarrau since last year, Jacques Legros is becoming more and more Monegasque… On the sidelines of the Boulogne-Billancourt TV set to ensure the 1 p.m. news on TF1 and promoting his book Behind the screen: 40 years at the heart of the media published by Éditions du Rocher, the presenter has been collaborating for several months with Monte-Carlo Riviera TV. The new television channel is to be introduced next fall.
Guest of the Monaco Press Club, which brought together its members at the Théâtre des Muses this Tuesday evening, Jacques Legros explained his projects and the editorial line he intends to propose with Thibault Malandrin, editor-in-chief of the channel.
You have announced that you are preparing to leave the news. Is it correct ?
It’s not a release that I completely programmed; even if my thinking changes. I will leave by saying thank you to all those who, for twenty-five years at 1 p.m., have followed me regularly.
What exact connection do you have with Monte-Carlo Riviera TV?
I’m at TF1, you know! As long as I am there, I do not have my complete freedom; even though I have a lot. I try to give the best advice to the creators of this channel.
And what did you imagine?
She is in the middle of writing. I’ve spent my life throwing chains. I participated in the creation of the first local radio stations of Radio France, France Info, LCI, in the editorial design of Ushuaïa TV, of the History channel. Monte-Carlo Riviera is an adventure that I could not refuse insofar as it wants to develop a very environmental axis. I am only advising Salim Zeghdar and Prince Albert II. Monte-Carlo Riviera TV will be an environmental channel. We all want it to become the international reference in the field of the environment.
“A One Health hospital center in La Turbie”
Are you so passionate about the environment?
My wife works both at the Institut Imagine Hôpital Necker in Paris and at the National Veterinary School of Maison Alfort. It bridges the gap between human and veterinary medicine. The interest in the One Health concept that we are beginning to talk about was born. But there is nothing concrete. And soon, in La Turbie, overlooking Monaco, you will have the first One Health hospital center of 2,000 m2, very close to the future motorway ramp, with the world’s leading specialists, a research center, and on the environment with the prince. Health is part of the environment. The channel and this project which will be born very concretely within two years will obviously cooperate.
Who is at the head of this structure?
My wife.
Is it a project financed by the Principality?
No, it’s in agreement with the Prince and financed by the banks.
You have big ambitions for Monte-Carlo Riviera. The means of the chain will not however be those of TF1…
The less resources we have, the more creative we are. We have to work more. I have no concerns from this point of view.
