Letters of Credence from the Ambassador of Monaco
On the morning of October 22, Pope Francis received in audience HE Mr. Philippe Orengo, new Ambassador of the Principality of Monaco, who presented the Letters which accredit him to the Holy See.
Born in Monaco on November 13, 1953, he is married. He holds a master’s degree from the Institut d’Etudes politiques (IEP) in Paris (1977), a DEA in political science (1979), and a degree in German (Goethe Institut, Boppard-am Rhein, 1974). He has held the following positions: in the administration of the city of Paris (1980-1988), as project manager in the mayor’s office and with the mayor’s chief of staff, lecturer at the National School of Administration ; Chief of Staff, Directorate General for International Relations; technical adviser to the mayor’s office. He then carried out his duties within the prefectural administration, Ministry of the Interior (1988-1997) — as sub-prefect, chief of staff to the prefects of Lot and Sarthe; and sub-prefect of the arrondissement of Dole (Jura) — and within the French administrative justice system, as adviser to the body of members of administrative tribunals and administrative courts of appeal; first adviser, government commissioner; President of the Body of Members of Administrative Tribunals and Administrative Courts of Appeal; vice-president of the Administrative Court of Nice. He was then Councilor of State, Counsel to the Council of State of the Principality of Monaco (1988-2022) and Honorary Consul General of Denmark (2013-2022).
