Eurasian Economic Forum of Verona | Baku | Russia
It is this morning on October 27, and continues until tomorrow the 15th edition of the Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona has begun. The event has kept the name of its historic site, even if this year it does not take place in the Scaligero capital. International tensions and the war between Russia and Ukraine have moved the economic forum to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. “The choice fell on Azerbaijan as a country that boasts constructive relations with the various regions of the world and that has promoted dialogue within Greater Eurasia, by virtue of an international policy Characteristic of balance and neutrality”, he reads in the note released by the Conoscere Eurasia association, which this year organizes the event together with the Italian-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce and with the partnership of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy.
This year’s edition has as: “Co Eurasian economic countries in the context of the new global reality” and operating title belonging to the world, including Italy, Russia, India and Germany. Executives of large companies, political and public personalities, diplomats and experts will discuss the opportunities for developing economic and trade cooperation in the context of Greater Eurasia.
The economic themes at the center of this first day are the energy and commodity markets, but also the profound geopolitical changes that are taking place globally. While tomorrow will be dedicated to industrial and commercial cooperation, logistics and transport, new financial models, the technological revolution and the green economy, as well as opportunities for agro-industrial development.
In the first speeches no one spoke expressly of the war between Russia and Ukraine, but the crisis generated by this conflict too can be read between the lines of many speeches. The secretariat of the Eurasian Economic Forum, in its opening note, has an international context in which national selfishness begins to prevail over the economic interest of 2008. A crisis from which it is possible to escape “by accepting the multipolar world in gestation, without countries” exceptional “or vassals or even colonies, recognizing the interests and the economic and geopolitical role of each country and groups of countries, without discrimination and exclusion”. And the introduction of the organizers of the event ended with an invitation to join forces. «In the multipolar world it is possible to build a new humanistic economy, in which the man with his interests is at the center. To achieve this, a common international strategy must be put into practice. One of the objectives of the Eurasian Economic Forum is to promote one of the most effective tools of this strategy: it is capable of acting and representing the genuine needs of economic and social development for the benefit of people and the entire civil society. From this point of view, the situation has not changed over the last year. The business world has a duty to spend its energies to try, despite today’s difficulties, to unite, to create, to bring wealth and prosperity. Diplomacy can and must share with international politics and economic organizations the urgency of starting the multipolar strategy to ensure the salvation of the planet, the security and prosperity of humanity. We have a duty to propose this in a realistic way. Dialogue and dialogue can contribute to the maturation of concrete proposals for studying harmonious economic development and cultural diversities: capable of reducing, if not eliminating, the scandalous social inequalities which transversally affect our planet ».
While Igor Sechin, director of the Russian government-controlled oil company Rosneft, read a message sent to the forum by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Message that ends with Putin’s expressed desire to “take action to create a common space of peace and prosperity, based on the principles of sovereignty, equality and mutual respect”. But Alexey Overchuk’s words were also added to Putin’s words. You are referred by AdnkronosRussian Deputy Prime Minister spoke at the forum underway in Baku with a new attack on Europe, which would carry out “a policy of canceling Russia”.
