Before the Monaco Criminal Court on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, the police lawyer was clear: “Foreigners are welcome in Monaco, but you have to respect our country and the authority! Behind these people, there is a dirty uniform”, he shouted while pointing to the two young policemen in front of him. The latter have filed a complaint, and this is the first time that they have embarked on this type of procedure. “It was the repetition of insults that pushed us to take the plunge”they explain at the bar.
The scene took place on June 26, around 5:30 a.m. The receptionist at the Port Palace Hotel located on Avenue Kennedy in Monaco contacts the police because of a disruptive and visibly drunk individual, after recovering at the Beefbar and going to La Rascasse. On the spot, the police handcuff the man who had become uncontrollable and verbally abusive. “You sons of bitches, you motherfuckers, it’s not your job that I want, it’s your lives”quote the judge out loud.

If the Monegasque criminal record of this young man was empty until then, his French and Belgian records, on the other hand, are well supplied. Indeed, the defendant – who was absent during his trial – was convicted more than ten times and in particular for contempt of a person holding public authority. “So it’s not an isolated act.points out Master Sosso, who insists that the police need our support. They are important for the security of Monaco, the peace and the attractiveness of the Principality. »
