Letter to the editor – Compulsory regulation – Liechtensteiner Volksblatt, the daily newspaper for Liechtenstein
The essays by the IG Volksmeinung and their helpers are quite considerable, at least in terms of the number. In terms of content, however, they appear rather modest. Her tenor: it would be best to get rid of all casinos that keep people from addictions and save them from great ruin. Unfortunately, the initiators have not yet announced what they intend to do with the “rescued” when there are no more casinos. And in any case, the question should also be pursued as to why, of all things, the addiction is the sole focus of the addiction rescuers and all other addictions are not considered by them at all? The question of whether envy is the driving force and could arise on those who manage to break the bank and then drag home their million-dollar profit must be considered, given that envy, along with the Rhine and the Föhn, is a long-established Liechtenstein nationals are taken into account. The question should also be investigated as to why people feel called upon to judge others and to stigmatize them as good and bad. If someone suffers from drunkenness and drinks all their belongings, they are lovingly, even greedily, accepted by the village community and, as a “Lümple”, they integrate themselves comfortably and well-protected into the community. You just need someone against whom you can measure yourself and present yourself as a do-gooder. Drug addiction, gluttony, sex addiction, etc. is not something that people like to touch and the rescuers don’t get together so quickly to form an IG, because it can happen to every family that the father spends all his money in the whorehouse, or that a son or brother becomes addicted to drugs is. So it is easier and, above all, more hypocritical to throw oneself on the glimmer and glitter of the casinos and to ensure “order” there. And that’s it, so that only good and flawless money comes into our country and our good reputation, which we have painstakingly created all over the world with our hands, does not have to suffer.
