BIME will once again turn Bilbao into the capital of music
bime, the International Music Meeting, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary and expects to bring together 4,500 professionals from 50 countries, it will once again alternate a program focused on presentations, debates and meetings in Euskalduna Jauregia, and 65 free concerts scattered around venues and public spaces in Bilbao by emerging Basque, national, European and Latin American musicians. The objective is once again to turn the Biscayan capital into the “epicenter of innovation, music and business”.
BIME, which has the collaboration of the Bilbao City Council and the Basque Government, will start this wednesday with three days of professional conferences that will be followed by four focused on live music, until Saturday. “Resize music”, that is the objective of this meeting that proposes a bridge between Europe and Latin America, and that hopes to bring together 4,500 professionals from the sector through different activities to be carried out on 15 stages.
The 10th anniversary of BIME, which will include the participation of delegations from several Latin American and European countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, France, Finland and Austria, in addition to the sponsorship of the Spanish National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO, exhibit its section professional (BIME PRO) from Wednesday in three intense days of presentations, networksmaster classes and workshops in Euskalduna.
The program will include the participation of industry leaders such as Afo Verde, president and CEO of Sony Music Latin-Iberia, as well as the person in charge of recording Bad Bunny, Rosalía or Camilo, as well as Rebeca León, who will tell “her experience as manager of the most international Spanish artist of the last decade, Rosalía”, explained to DEIA from the organization. In addition, Neneh Cherry, an artist and cultural icon who paved the way more than 30 years ago, whose work is the object of a pop cult, will also participate; James Cruz, heavyweight on the world rap scene, and Rafa Sardina, renowned producer of Basque origin based in Los Angeles and winner of 18 Grammy Awards, among many others.
The objective of BIME is to offer “responses to the challenges faced by a sector in constant transformation through the addition, exchange and dialogue, from the local to the universal”, they explain from Last Tour. The program includes 70 panels starring “the top figures in the music industry”, among which stand out the panel on the status of the artist, what the festivals of the future will be like, how to take advantage of social networks as a boost in the artistic career, how to maximize income on the different platforms or the role of new technologies as a tool at a global level for publishers.
Euskalduna will host meetings such as the European Music Export Exchange, with twenty experts in the internationalization of music, and Live DMA, which will bring together the most important venues in Europe; the Film Music Lab will be maintained, where composers and film directors will work together; there will be the Campus program that “gives space to young people looking for a place in this industry”, as well as those looking to accelerate their business in the Start Up! Competition, all in collaboration with the Basque Government, among other institutions and companies.

BIME, which will once again host the Fest Awards and the innovative BIME Equity, which seek to “provide visibility and recognize female and LGTBIQ+ talent”, will also have their section BIME LIVE, from Wednesday to Saturday, with a poster of 65 free concerts of emerging musicians from countries such as Germany, Cuba, France, Colombia, Austria, Chile, the Netherlands, Argentina, Poland, Portugal, the State and Euskadi. They will offer a great diversity of musical styles, including flamenco, pop, rap, trap, reggaeton, indie, reggae, alternative, R&B, folklore, hardcore, hyperpop and electronica.
The recitals will take place on multiple stages, including the Stage Live, Ambigú, Sala BBK, Kafe Antzokia, Shake, Muelle, Bilborock and Dock rooms. In addition, on Saturday the music will move to the center of the capital, specifically to Doña Casilda and Plaza Indautxu. “In an edition marked by growth, this new format is the best way to celebrate BIME’s tenth anniversary, filling every corner of Bilbao with live music”, they explain from the organization.
