Salzburg Ranggler show up again: Sensational comeback by Christian Pirchner
As every year, the Ranggler met on Sunday, October 23rd at the end of the year in St. Martin in Passiria. There was once again a country ranking and an international prize ranking on the program. The Salzburg were represented with a large order.
Pupils and youth ranks
Of the 81 student rankers, no fewer than 42 came from Salzburg. The students from Salzburg were able to achieve three class wins with Lukas Riedlsperger from Leogang up to 6 years and the two Piesendorfer Felix Eder up to 10 years and Jakob Höller up to 12 years. In the third round, Jakob Höller made the decisive throw against Gabriel Mariner from Matrei. Second were the two Saalbacher Anton Holzer up to 6 years and Michael Susitz up to 8 years, the Pongauer Hansi Höllwart up to 10 years, and Paul Altenberger from Niedernsill up to 12 years. Third places went to Erik Perfeller from Piesendorf up to 6 years and Paul Wörgötter from Maria Alm up to 10 years.
In the youth class up to 16 years, Leoganger Florian Scheiber won. Up to the age of 18, Peter Reiter from Saalbach was third.
Three country rankings
The highlight was the three-country ring between Salzburg, Tyrol and South Tyrol. Although the two winners of the Alpencup, Philip Holzer for Tyrol and Hermann Höllwart for Salzburg, are missing, all three countries are strong teams.
The Salzburg team came out on top with 14 points ahead of Tirol with 10 points and South Tyrol with 6 points. This means that all three country fishing competitions were won this year. The encounter with Tyrol ended 6:4, against South Tyrol they won 8:2. Tyrol against South Tyrol ended with 6:4. The country winner was Christoph Eberl from Leogang with a win against Benedikt Engl from South Tyrol and a draw against Stefan Sulzenbacher from Brixental. Second was Christoph Kendler from Saalbach with a win against Matteo Parolin from South Tyrol and a draw against Kevin Holzer from Matrei. The Dutchman Gerald Grössig came third with a win against the South Tyrolean Matthias Gulfer and a draw against the Zillertaler Andreas Hauser. Fourth the Piesendorfer Daniel Schager, the Zillertaler Martin Hauser fought and fought against the South Tyrolean Markus Wolfsgruber in a draw. Fifth was Christian Pirchner from Taxenbach. He fought twice in a draw against Benjamin Pichler from South Tyrol and Stefan Gastl from Brixental. You have to know that Christian Pirchner skipped this year’s competition season. So he showed a tremendous performance.
The result of the country ranking:
1. Salzburg 14 points (1. Christoph Eberl 2. Christopher Kendler 3. Gerald Grössig 4. Daniel Schager 5. Christian Pirchner)
2nd Tyrol 10 points (1st Stefan Sulzenbacher 2nd Kevin Holzer 3rd Andreas Hauser 4th Martin Hauser 5th Stefan Gastl)
3. South Tyrol 6 points (1. Benjamin Pichler 2. Markus Wolfsgruber 3. Matthias Gufler 4. Matteo Parolin 5. Benedikt Engl)
General Classes
For the athletes there was another monster program at the last ranking, because school, youth and general Hagmoar were also judged.
Salzburg won six prizes in the prize rankings. Lukas Mittermayr from Saalbach won class IV and was promoted to class III. Mittersiller Marcel Pichler was third. Class III was won by Daniel Pail from Saalbach with two victories against Matteo Parolin and Matthias Gufler from South Tyrol. Daniel Schager from Piesendorf was third in class II, he had to admit defeat to Stefan Sulzenbacher from Brixental. In Class I there was a sensational winner in Taxenbacher Christian Pirchner. As already mentioned, he was never in the ring this year. He started with a bye. In round two he was able to assert himself against Christopher Kendler from Saalbach. He had previously defeated Andreas Hauser from Zillertal after a short time and thus finished third. In the final, Pirchner then face Benjamin Pichler from Passiria, who in round one defeated Christoph Eberl from Leogang from the competition. Two minutes before the end of the fighting time, Pirchner also managed to win against Pichler. In doing so, he proved that at the age of 36 he is far from being old-fashioned. Maybe that was enough motivation for another Ranggler year in his career.
Hagmaor competitions
student hagmoar
Only two people from Salzburg competed in the Schülerhagmoar. Niedernsiller Paul Altenberger and Maria Almer Alois Schwaiger were eliminated in round one. Passeirer Devid Fiegl won ahead of Matreier Matthäus Gander and his club colleague Jonas Ilmer.
youth hagmoar
At the Jugendhagmoar, Simon Steiger from Bramberg made it into the last three by beating Aaron Watschinger from Ahrntal. He lost to the later Hagmoar Stefan Gastl and finished third. Second place goes to Martin Auer from Passiria.
General class Hagmaor
Pirchner continued his run of success at the Hagmaor competition. In the first round he won against the South Tyrolean Markus Wolfsgruber. Other winners were Christopher Kendler with a lightning win against Matteo Parolin, Christoph Eberl shortly before the end of the fight against Kevin Holzer from Matrei and Benjamin Pichler against Daniel Pail. In round two Pirchner won against Pichler, Kendler prevailed again against Eberl. Pichler won the battle for second place. The final between the two Salzburgers Pirchner and Kendler ended with another victory for Pirchner. The sensation was finally perfect.
