Toulouse. Sidilarsen in concert at the Bikini: “Metal runs through our veins”
Spearheads of French metal, the Toulousains of Sidilarsen celebrate today Saturday at the Bikini de Ramonville 25 years of a fruitful career with guest groups.
Originally from Toulouse, the musicians of Sidilarsen have been propelled to the top and opened the doors of the biggest national and international festivals. A quarter of a century of making dantesque riffs roar, mixing grooves and flirting with electro. “It’s a rather special feeling, recognizes David ‘Didou’Cancel, singer of the group with Benjamin ‘Viber’Bury. I think back to our beginnings and it seems very far to me and yet, I have the impression of not having We’ve seen the time pass! We were teenagers when we started but we’re still doing metal – even though we’ve matured – and this music is forever in our veins.
The evolution of Sidilarsen throughout these 25 years is obvious: his metal still hits hard, but he likes to fight with hip-hop and electro. “We have, by small touches, integrated other musical forms while making sure to maintain our efficiency and our rhythm.”
Committed and militant
For “his” festival, the aptly named Sidifest, Didou and his band wanted to invite some friends: “Black Bomb A is a band from Lille, we’ve known each other for a very long time and they too, like us, have two singers which work very well together. They have a very big energy on stage! As for Shaârghot, who opens the concert, it is a group which is starting to make people talk about it: they have a very interesting visual universe, a bit post-apocalyptic in a way Mad Max. Inviting them to the Bikini for this Sidifest II – the first was for the 20th anniversary – is very important for us: it is in this spirit of sharing that we worked with Antistatic, for example”, explains the singer .
A committed and militant group, Sidilarsen has plenty to do right now: “When we released ‘We’re all going to die’ before the pandemic, we were damn visionary, smiles Didou. Today there is war in Europe, the ‘acceleration of global warming… But we remain bearers of hope. The observation is dark but lucid: we are witnessing a great crisis of human beings. With their Sidifest, the people of Toulouse intend to remain “human, alive and well connected to our public”. Nice program.
