In the Toulouse metro, it doesn’t smell of roses… but of violets!
In some metro stations in the Pink City, a perfume of violets is diffused. An experiment by Tisséo, which is not to displease users.
Some may have noticed an unusual smell lately in some Toulouse metro stations. Since Tuesday evening, Tisséo has been distributing perfume in the stations of Jean-Jaurès, Capitole and Arènes. And for those who wouldn’t have recognized the floral notes that perfume the air, it’s a violet perfume! Emblematic flower of the Pink City.
This experiment, whose objective is “to see if the diffusion of perfume changes the perception of users on the metro” will last for two months. “We want to see if this improves comfort and the feeling of health security,” explains Tisséo. “We have already carried out two experiments since the end of June, with two other different flavors” adds the Toulouse public transport network.
This Friday, in the Jean-Jaurès metro station, the smell of violets failed to tickle the noses of all users. “I feel like I smelled a smell but I wasn’t sure, but here, for example, I mainly smell the smell of escalators!” launches Edith. “I hadn’t even noticed. But there is a smell, indeed, I’ll be more careful now,” says Lila.
But, on the side of Toulouse who had a flair, the opinions on this experiment are rather positive. With the exception of Gerard*. “There are always bad substances in the perfume. I don’t find it pleasant”, laments the passerby.
“Much more pleasant” smells
For most users, the scent of the violet is more appreciable than the usual smells of metro stations, which often evoke “radioactive”. “There is often a strange smell here in the Jean-Jaurès station. There, it has nothing to do with it!” says Shaynez.
“At rush hour when there are people, the smells are not terrible. By putting on perfume, it can only smell good!” Azdean report. “In transport, there is like a smell of heat, the smells of the crowd that mix, it’s not very pleasant. It’s true that it’s better like that” launches Maelis in turn, while straining the nostrils to inhale the scent of violets.
On the other hand, if the people of Toulouse have indeed noticed this change of atmosphere, none have been able to recognize the smell of the violet. Some have even thought that the scent notes that wafted through the air corresponded to “another user’s scent”.
