Hungary has been exempted from the introduction of the gas price cap, so it does not endanger the safe supply of gas, the Prime Minister wrote in a Facebook message from Brussels. Viktor Orbán announced that a fair agreement was reached: even if there is a gas price cap in Europe, it will not affect the long agreements, without which the country’s gas supply would become impossible overnight. He added: if there is joint gas procurement in Europe, it will not be mandatory for Hungary, so all procurement options are still open.
The European Union now has a solid roadmap for managing the energy crisis, the leaders of the team have given the necessary strategic guidelines, the president of the European Commission said. Ursula Von der Leyen said that the collective leaders agreed to create a framework for determining the price ceiling for gas in electricity production. The leaders agreed on a voluntary joint purchase of gas in accordance with national needs, so they must invest more in energy efficiency, expanding storage capacity and developing renewable energy technologies.
The European Union paid 1.5 billion euros per month for Ukraine’s basic needs. At the press conference concluding the two-day EU summit, the President of the European Commission talks about the fact that Ukraine must have a stable and reliable source of income, and for this it would need 3-4 billion euros per month.
