Toulouse: the 82 monuments in the dark at 10 p.m.
The Toulouse monuments, but also the Christmas lights, will no longer be lit after 10 p.m. this winter.
The Capitol, the Saint-Sernin basilica, the Hôtel-Dieu, the Halle aux grains, the monument aux Morts… all the monuments of the city, including those which are less known, in the districts, will turn off at 10 p.m. , according to one of the ten emergency decisions taken as part of the sobriety plan of the town hall. Toulouse is doing better than Paris, which decided to turn off the Eiffel Tower at 11:45 p.m.
Until now, all Toulouse monuments were plunged into darkness at midnight. And the most emblematic had brought a renovation with LEDs as part of the Lighting Plan, launched during the first term, which aimed to “relight” the streets of Toulouse. This re-lighting had also been one of the themes of the municipal campaign of 2014.
Programmed illuminations
The extinction at 10 p.m. also applies to the Christmas lights which will begin this year a week later and end a week earlier. Usually, the start of the illuminations was given at the end of November at the same time as the opening of the Christmas market, which kept the same opening dates. A Christmas market which will also be spread over several sites, Place du Capitole, Square de Gaulle, the Ramblas and Place du Salin. The garden of Father Christmas invests the Place du Capitole.
