Toulouse: college students rewarded by Agnès Jaoui for their film on consent
Several teams of secondary school students from Haut-Garonne have been rewarded for the creation of short films on the theme of consent among young people, as part of the #C’estOuiOuC’estRien short film competition initiated by the Gendarmerie region of Occitanie. The prizes were notably awarded by the sponsor of the competition, the French actress Agnès Jaoui, also president of the Toulouse cinematheque.
“Knowing who the other is, understanding the other, understanding that the other has desire when you don’t, or the opposite, is the work of a lifetime.”, says Agnès Jaoui, actress Frenchwoman and president of the Toulouse cinematheque, during the award ceremony for the #C’estOuiOuC’estRien competition on consent among young people (of which she is godmother), this Wednesday, in the Bodega of the Stade Ernest-Wallon in Toulouse. As part of this project, undertaken last March by the Gendarmerie d’Occitanie region with the support of the Haute-Garonne prefecture, in partnership with the Stade Toulousain, several fourth-grade classes from twenty Haute-Garonne colleges imagined a scenario on the theme of consent, and produced 3-minute clips with the help of the Toulouse production company NFCA Pictures. “In 2021, all the authorities and those involved in the fight against crime have noted an increase in sexual violence. A more in-depth analysis of the violence that has been the subject of investigation shows two things: more and more sexual violence is committed to the detriment of minors, and the perpetrators are not always aware of their actions,” reports Charles Bourillon, the commander of the gendarmerie region of Occitanie. An observation that could be justified by the ease of access of young adolescents to violent and pornographic content, thanks to mobile phones and social networks, “which can distort relationships with others about the body and sexuality.”, as points out Etienne Guyot, prefect of Haute-Garonne.
In the presence of the prefect of Haute-Garonne Etienne Guyot, four Haut-Garonne schools received a prize for their screenplays. The winning clips will then be used in the context of prevention campaigns on consent, broadcast in all the colleges of the department.
