Piazza Marsala in Genoa is reborn, the fountain restored and illuminated – Primocanale.it
GENOA – The fountain in Piazza Marsala lights up, or rather its sixteenth-century barchile, after the citizens and traders of the Genoa Corvetto area mobilized to ask the municipal administration to restore and highlight the monument. The request came during the summer, when there were some damages such as encrustations in the basin, moss and stones blackened by time. So the intervention was entrusted to the restorer Amalia Sartoriwho, under the supervision of the Superintendency, restored the barrel to its original luster.
LED lighting also embellishes the square, a soft and warm light, which gives a completely different aspect to what has always been a meeting place for the Genoese. A few steps from piazza Corvetto and via Assarotti, the square represents a historical meeting point thanks to its clubs and proximity to the theaters and from today it will be even more beautiful. And this work of great historical and artistic value will no longer go unnoticed.
The enthusiastic residents of the city and the city authorities were present at the inauguration, starting with the mayor Marco Bucci who said he was satisfied with the intervention and thanked those present: “This is the city we want, with citizens who encourage and stimulate us to improve their neighborhoods and I am happy that it was carried out this intervention in a short time “. But then also the deputy mayor Pietro Piciocchi, the councilor for commerce Paola Bordilli and the president of the East Center Andrea Carratù, who adds: “Cooperation between citizens, public and private gives rise to good examples of this type: after the intervention in piazza Campetto where another barchile has been returned to the city, this is another step forward to make the center of Genoa even more beautiful and cared for as it deserves “.
Among the most loyal to Piazza Marsala is the Genoese businessman Aldo Spinelli who often frequents the area and who in Primocanale comments: “Here there are so many activities, from the hairdresser that everyone knows as the ‘mayor of via Palestro’ to the bars and restaurants and the pharmacy that they thought was a kind of letting go: that’s why we asked Deputy Mayor Piciocchi and I must say that they were quick to complete the work “.
“We have piazza Corvetto, piazza De Ferrari, piazza della Vittoria: this was a bit neglected and now politics has been busy and this is how it must be to preserve and regain possession of the culture of the city”
Greetings at the inauguration i typical Genoese songs that have warmed the atmosphere and paid to that homage which is a real celebration for the whole neighborhood.
