Between Toulouse and Ramonville-Saint-Agne, the metro car park is too small, users get annoyed
For several months, the two car parks at the terminus of line B of the metro in Ramonville-Saint-Agne, at the gates of Toulouse, have been quickly saturated. A situation that annoys more and more residents.
Thursday, October 20, 9 a.m., the two car parks at the line B terminus are full. On the outskirts, the cars chase each other, hoping to find a free space. If some vehicles have found a place in the streets of the eco-district of Buchens, many of them park on the roundabout, avenue Flora Tristan, hindering traffic.
“It’s getting very complicated”
On the spot, the residents did not take off. Although the situation has been going on for several months, work that began on October 8 does not tend to improve the situation. Indeed, some of the parking spaces are unavailable at the Ramonville park and ride due to work to connect line B to the future 3rd metro line. Romain, school teacher and resident of the neighborhood can’t take it anymore. “I find it increasingly difficult to park when I come home from work. On an underground parking space for two vehicles. When I come home from work there are days when you can’t even park at home. It gets really complicated.” Same story for traders. “In front of the Spar, on time-limited parking spaces, but the cars arrive in the morning and leave only in the evening. I have to block the delivery place otherwise people come to park on it. We are a business, we have deliveries regularly, we need them. As for motorists, parking is done at their own risk, as Julia points out. “When I arrive too late, I have to park where there is space so as not to be late for work. I’ve already been ticketed and the car has already been added to me, but I have to work hard. Afterwards, I understand that it bothers, but I have no other choice”.
Awareness campaign before the verbalizations
Contacted by La Dépêche du Midi, Christophe Lubac, mayor of Ramonville-Saint-Agne, first announced the setting up soon of an awareness campaign with the municipal police. It will then proceed to verbalizations of badly parked vehicles. However, no car park expansion project is planned, as Christophe Lubac points out, “I can only encourage people living nearby to take the metro or bike to get to the metro”. Also vice-president of Tisséo Voyageurs, he indicated that a reflection was in progress to inform upstream on the park and ride facilities of the availability of parking at the terminus. The metro is accessible from these parking lots via the Lineo 6 line.
