Toulouse-Rangueil: the Cosec multisports gymnasium is still closed
After contamination with legionellosis in the spring, this multi-sports facility in Toulouse, which houses gymnastics, boxing and martial arts clubs in particular, is once again unusable due to a broken pipe… Hundreds of young athletes are at the street.
This is the black series. Closed for several weeks at the start of the year, the Cosec gymnasium in Rangueil, which brings together a multitude of activities and sports clubs, is once again forced to draw the curtain. And always for questions of water. In the spring, the sanitary facilities had been contaminated with Legionnaires’ disease, thus preventing the hundreds of children and teenagers who frequent the place from accessing the facilities. This time, it was the main external water supply pipe to the gymnasium which suddenly broke on Friday. “Having no longer any water point or toilets supplied, the community was forced to close the installation until repaired, explains the town hall of Toulouse. And the teams do what is necessary to inform users”. From today, Wednesday, hundreds of licensees will have to write off their weekly sports practices. As diverse as gymnastics, boxing, martial arts, dance, football… It includes outdoor activities that use the place as a changing room. For how long ? There is the question. For the time being, the town hall of Toulouse is awaiting the end of the intervention of Eau de Toulouse, a service provider for the community, which has taken charge of the problem. Without giving a recovery date.
“Equipment not up to par”…
For the clubs housed in the gymnasium, it is once again a hassle with the concern of warning all members. “We are sorry for the inconvenience caused, they wrote to them. We will keep you informed of the effective date of reopening and resumption of training. But for parents, this new episode says a lot about the dilapidation of the place. “The welcome is not up to standard, explains a father, who has just arrived in Toulouse from Nantes. It’s hot in the summer, cold in the winter and we have the added bonus of these problems of hygiene and maintenance”. Good news all the same, the Capitol ensures “that there is absolutely no sign of legionellosis on the installation”, as a rumor suggested. “The annual checks have been carried out and have revealed nothing of this nature, underlines the town hall. The problem identified dates back to last year and it has been fixed for a long time”. Now it remains to settle the stewardship…
