A procession marches between the war memorial and Place Arnaud Bernard in Toulouse on the occasion of the interprofessional strike of October 18. The four unions behind the movementDo not be part of the CGT, are demanding wage increases in particular.
Four trade unions, the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), Force Ouvrière (FO), the Solidarity Trade Union Union and the Unitary Trade Union Federation (FSU), have called for an interprofessional strike for this Tuesday, October 18. In the first place, they demanded “the increase in wages”.
The demonstration also aims to “defend the right to strike”, at a time when the sling reigns in the refineries of TotalEnergie. The CGT does not digest the decision of the government to requisition employees in the face of the social movement in the refineries to allow the distribution of fuel.
In Toulouse, the demonstration started at 2 p.m. from the war memorial towards Place Arnaud Bernard. The procession was notably formed by the CGT, FO, Solidaire, SNESUP-FSU, and FO. On the political side, members of the Nupes alliance and the Left Communist Party were also present.
Because of this event which is taking place in the city center of Toulouse, Tisseo warns that the Airport Shuttle as well as lines L1, L8, L9, 14, 15, 23, 29, 39, 63 and 70 are diverted. Also, the downtown shuttle is suspended.
Regarding the impacts of the strike of October 18 in the schools of the Academy of Toulouse, which covers the whole of the former Midi-Pyrenees region, the rectorate announces an average of 8.07% of strikers. Among teachers, the rate is 3.49% in primary education, and 13.23% in secondary education. It rises to 32.38% in vocational high schools.
