To the assembly in every match!
Supporters of the theory “The era of Alexander Ovechkin and Evgeni Malkin has come to an end” are having a very hard time at the start of this national hockey league season. If Ovi slowed down a little in the first games, and could really light it up only in the fourth match, then Gino is still gaining points in absolutely all meetings. It seems that the summer words of his former teammate, and now NHL Network expert Mike Rapp, were not accidental:
“Gino is one of the representations of players of all time. I think that in this case he will be very motivated and next year he will be used even higher in the list of the best center forwards. NHL“.
And Pittsburgh head coach Mike Sullivan against Malkin and other Penguins veterans is absolutely not in vain:
“I believe these guys can still play. They show no signs of a decline. I have the opportunity to observe countless people every day. I know the sacrifices they make.”
In the Monday meeting with Montreal, it took Malkin only 4 minutes to complete a double. There was this wonderful segment in the second period. At first, Eugene shot excellently in touch.
And then, on experience, he watched for a rebound on a penny. No wonder Sidney Crosby was worried on the last day of the transfer window that Pence would not sign a new contract with his Russian friend. Pittsburgh really needs such a Malkin.
“I’m sweating. When it is recommended to press, it can be anything. The day was already coming to an end, there was complete uncertainty. I always want to think positively and be an optimist. But one way or another, there was a chance that nothing would come of it. Uncertainty is very hard.”
Alas, apparently, this evening did not work out for the Russian giant from the Penguins – his team surprisingly easily managed to lose a two-goal lead and lose. Other guests overslept a non-free counterattack, then forgot 21-year-old youngster Kol Cofield at the far post, and retired in overtime and were knocked out.
This was Pittsburgh’s first failure of the season, a failure that worked out and didn’t happen. Well, Malkin is still gaining more than one person per game – a worthy result for a guy who was called by many in the summer too old for big things.
