Discover the ranking of former Monegasques in the Ballon d’Or – AS Monaco
Three of our 2017 French champions were named yesterday in the list of 30 Ballon d’Or contenders. A great evening for the three acclaimed in question: Bernardo Silva, Fabinho and Kylian Mbappé.
This Monday was the 66th Ballon d’Or ceremony at the Châtelet theater in Paris. And if Karim Benzema, the French striker of Real Madrid won the trophy, three former residents of AS Monaco finished in the 30 nominees. Overview.
22nd: Bernardo Silva
The great Portuguese enchanted Monegasque fans between 2014 and 2017. Left to join the Premier League and Manchester City, the champion of France 2017 has won almost everything since his arrival across the Channel: Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Community Shield.

A track record and consistency with the Sky blues, making Bernardo Silva one of Pep Guardiola’s basic men. Winner of the Premier League, runner-up in the Champions League, and author of eight goals in 35 league games last season, the Portuguese midfielder finished a nice 22nd place in the classification of the Golden ball for the second nomination of his career after 2019 (9th at the time). Congratulations Bernardo!
14th: Fabinho
He too was crowned French champion in 2017 and he too joined the Premier League a year after Bernardo Silva. Under the colors of the Liverpool Reds, our old number 2 has simply established itself as one of the best midfielders in the Kingdom.

Last season, he won the English League Cup, the FA Cup, finished 2nd in the Premier League, one point behind the Citizens and was a Champions League finalist. A great collective season during which he played 48 games including tax (eight goals and an assist), thus earning him a first nomination for the Ballon d’Or. He finally finished in a superb 14th place, ahead of players such as Casemiro or Cristiano Ronaldo, sorry. Congratulations Fabi!
6th: Kylian Mbappe
The #MadeInLaDiagonale striker, champion in 2017 with AS Monaco and world champion in 2018 with the French team, has shown exemplary consistency for five years now. Again last season, he ended with 49 achievements in all competitions under the colors of Paris Saint-Germain and the French team.

Notably fourth in the Ballon d’Or in 2018, Kylian Mbappé arrives this time in sixth place. This places him in the top 10 of this ranking for the fifth consecutive season, a first for a Frenchman since… Thierry Henry also #MadeInLaDiagonale. Congratulations Kylian!
