Strike day at Toulouse. Tuesday, October 18, 2022, employees of the Pink City will respond to a call for a demonstration launched by several unions (CGT, FO, Solidaires, FSU, etc.) to demand, in particular, a salary increase. Here’s what’s planned.
Rising wages and “defending the right to strike”
The intersyndicale makes an appointment at the level of the monument of Francois Verdier. The start of the demo will take place at 2 p.m.
Their demands? The rise in wages, pensions and social minima in the face of galloping inflation.
Another battle horse: the “defense of the right to strike”. Indeed, the government’s requisition of striking employees to maintain activity in oil depots and refineries is not to the liking of the unions: “This procedure, already condemned by the ILO, constitutes an unacceptable violation of the right constitutional strike and fundamental freedoms”, thunders the CGT.
Galley day in the stations
Who says strike, very often says galley in transport. And this will indeed be the case on the rails… At the SNCFthe social movement has already been underway since Monday, October 17 with disruptions, from Toulouse, on the lines that lead to Carol’s Latour and Paul.
This Tuesday, traffic should be even more disrupted throughout Occitania. Matabiau station, we can already announce since difficulties on the lines which connect Toulouse to Rodez, Figeac, Mazamet, Narbonne, Carol’s Latour, Paul or Auch.
“We prefer you, as far as possible, to postpone your trip. Coaches could be made available”, indicates the SNCF. Disturbances are to be followed on the rail network website.
On the side of the airportno disruption is expected at this time.
Tisséo calls on its users to consult the app
What about public transport in the Toulouse area? On the eve of this day of action, Tisseo cannot yet predict any event-related disruptions.
“We call on users to regularly consult the application and the website,” advises Tisséo.
Minimum service in Toulouse schools
In schools, the town hall of Toulouse will organize a minimum reception service.
Nevertheless, it is possible that some kindergarten students cannot be taken care of in their usual establishment. In this case, parents can turn to two other schools that could accommodate them from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.:
- Galia kindergarten, 5 chemin Robert Cambert
- Maourine nursery school, 11 avenue Maurice Bourgès-Maunoury
“Registration by parents will be done on the site from 8 am to 9:30 am”, specifies the town hall of Toulouse.
Mobilization in vocational high schools
In education, the movement will also be followed by teachers of the professional path. The unions (CGT Educ’Action, SNUEP-FSU, SNEP UNSA, FNEC FP-FO, etc.) denounce the reform of professional high schools, “modeled on the apprenticeship model”. According to them, “increasing the number of internship weeks will involve fewer weeks of teaching”.
“This reduction in school time will impact vocational teachers for whom the president has already announced a vast retraining plan.”
To be part of their discontent, the organizations will gather in front of the rectorate, at 2 p.m.
