Toulouse implacable winner of Brive and leader of the classification
Six tries against one. Saturday October 15, the match was difficult to collect for the Brivistes, literally crushed by the Toulouse stadium which reinforces its status as leader of the Top 14 with a 45 to 7 victory as part of the 7e championship day. If the locals tried to resist the Rouge et Noir in the first period, they seemed totally absent at the end of half-time, claiming that Toulouse had plenty of time to limit their effectiveness.
Exit on injury of Melvyn Jaminet
The only shadow on the board of this great victory, the exit on Melvyn Jaminet injuryhit in the ankle at the 15e minute. A hard blow which did not prevent Ugo Mola’s men from getting their fill of points with six converted tries (Antoine Dupont, Richie Arnold, Thibaud Flament, Matthis Lebel, doubled by Arthur Retière). For the Corréziens on the other hand, the blow is all the harder as it comes after a severe 47-0 against Toulon last weekend.
Apart from some difficulties in touch and sometimes in the scrum, Stade Toulousain left nothing to their opponent, if not a minute from the siren, allowing CAB to register their first and only try. Before that, the Toulouse, faithful to their pragmatism, were able to widen the gap in two stages during a first act finally balanced, with a lot of turnovers. Once again, it’s Antoine Dupont who opened the score by overtaking Brive captain Thomas Laranjeira after a kick to follow … from Anthony Jelonch arising from a confused action (14).

A Toulouse-style rugby demonstration
Before half-time, the Australian second line Richie Arnold doubled the Toulouse capital by intercepting a pass from the Irishman Stuart Olding, before flattening between the posts (14-0). A sequence that seemed to ring the Corréziens who, on returning from the locker room, no longer managed to give the change against a stadium sure of its rugby and clinic thanks to a drop by Thomas Ramos (56). The meeting then turned to the demonstration after the hour of play with incisive entrants.
Julien Marchand served up Thibaud Flament for a winning run from 15 yards (61), then Arthur Retière escaped in a style borrowed from teammate Antoine Dupont (73) before the opportunist Matthis Lebel carried the Toulouse brand at 38-0 a minute later, the third visitor try of the day at zero passes.
Brive coach laid off
After the test for the honor of Sammy Arnold, Toulouse nevertheless pressed the nail with a doubled by Arthur Retière crossing the Brive line for the sixth time. A major definitive defeat for the TAXI since following the meeting, the coach Jeremy Davidson has been laid off by management. A “precautionary layoff” announced in the wake of a press release.
“The current staff are continuing their missions with the aim of improving the club’s results. The whole of CA Brive is focused on preparing for the trip to Paris to face Stade Français”, simply added CA Brive.
On the Stade Toulousain side, the atmosphere is much better since the Rouge et Noir are prancing top of the Top 14 with 28 points on the clock, i.e. six points ahead of the second La Rochelle that Toulouse will welcome correctly on Sunday October 23 during the 8e Top 14 day.
